John Hosmer founded LightYear and was the initial visionary behind the LightYear DMS. As President of DealerBuilt, he has lead the development of a user-friendly and intuitive Dealer Management System (DMS) by listening to the needs of the dealer; which continues to be our guiding principle. His drive and passion for creating a unique customer experience has been a key force that inspires the Company.
He has been directly involved with the design and development of all aspects of the DMS. In addition, Mr. Hosmer owns and operates profitable and growing Toyota and Honda franchises in Iowa. These dealerships remain the proving grounds for DealerBuilt’s latest product enhancements.
John has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. Cloud State University. He’s always had a knack for combining his numbers-driven aptitude with his passion for technology. His early technical endeavors included the development of a revolutionary analytical tool that played a key role in his own dealership’s profitability; eventually culminating in the foundation of DealerBuilt’s LightYear DMS.
Chief Executive Officer
Michael Trasatti has 25 years of experience developing and deploying information technology solutions, the majority exclusively in the automotive retail space. Born into the car business, Michael saw first-hand the need for simple, better technology for dealerships.
Michael has been a key architect behind the growth of DealerBuilt through his guidance with broadening the initial LightYear Suite, leadership, and building confidence in the marketplace. He has led the Company from a small, regional provider, to now a 100+ person staff, two locations, and year-over-year growth. His mentality is to lead through opportunity, seeking to build strong leaders in the company, remain committed to the customers, and ensure that our product delivers the highest possible satisfaction.
Prior to forming DealerBuilt with John and Frank in 2007, Michael served as CIO for a consumer finance company during a time of significant growth. Prior to that, Michael assisted Dealer Solutions in stabilizing their newly released DMS. His work helped secure their product line, aiding in the sale of Dealer Solutions to ADP (now CDK), where he remained as a consultant.
Mr. Trasatti has a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech in Accounting with a concentration in Information Systems. Michael brings in-depth knowledge of automotive retail technology to the organization and an inspiring style to the team.
Consulting Chief Financial Officer
Richard Rodgers is an accomplished Chief Executive and entrepreneur with 28 years of experience in some of the largest automotive groups in the US and the sixth largest corporation in the world. His extensive background in all aspects of financial management and investing, coupled with his industry knowledge make Richard uniquely equipped to provide consulting and management services to DealerBuilt.
Richard has served on a large number of Boards and has helped grow an automotive group from zero working capital to $20 million. As an automotive industry thought leader, he has been quoted by the press regarding the current regulation laws in the automotive industry. Throughout his career, he has given multiple speeches at Auto Dealers Office Managers Association (ADOMA) Conferences, as well as in Dale Carnegie classes. In addition, he has spoken at churches on charitable giving.
Mr. Rodgers obtained his Bachelors of Science in Accounting and his Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from Azusa Pacific University. He has earned a number of honors, awards and recognitions for his work as an exception Financial Advisor through the years. As an executive leader, he has won multiple Presidents awards on behalf of the auto groups he managed.
Chief Technology Officer
Adam Brown servers as our Chief Technology Officer, a role in which he has thrived for several years. Long-term technology direction, solutions architecture and management of infrastructures are areas Adam has been involved in for 15 years.
Adam provides leadership for the continued development of an innovative, robust, and secure information technology environment throughout the DealerBuilt infrastructure and his responsibilities encompass a wide variety of strategic technology issues: governance and policy, resource allocation, information technology protocols, and the DealerBuilt Technology organization. His exceptional track record of technology improvement is based on his belief in quality and expandability.
Mr. Brown is known for his ability to quickly identify technology requirements and translate them into realizable features that go far beyond “quick fixes.” Adam is known for his ability to pre-empt future changes by building in enhancement capability from the beginning.
EVP Business Development
Veronica Dunford has been a car enthusiast all her life. As our EVP of Business Development, Veronica is responsible for promoting the company through strong relationships, relentless pursuit of 100% customer satisfaction, and expanding the company into new markets.
Ms. Dunford initially began her career at DealerBuilt in 2012 to bolster our CRM initiatives. Her responsibilities quickly grew to overseeing account management and leveraging her network to foster relationships with 3rd party integrators and the factories DealerBuilt supports. Her rapport with customers and ability to build long-lasting business relationships has been a significant contributor to DealerBuilt’s growth.
Veronica leverages 25 years of industry experience and love for cars to build genuine friendships in the industry and be an evangelist to the ideas DealerBuilt brings to the marketplace.
Bryan Tracey has over 30 years of experience implementing new DMS, CRM, and Marketing systems in Dealerships. As our EVP of Sales, Bryan brings to DealerBuilt an industry veteran with a reputation for integrity and salesmanship.
Beginning in 1984, Bryan started as a Software Installation Specialist, learned & installed all departments of a Dealership in record time. He later was promoted to field marketing. His efforts resulted in sales to the largest Dealership groups in that company’s history. Bryan advanced to National Training and Sales Support Manager and from there moved into sales where he has thrived! He has accomplished his 20+ year record setting career by addressing the needs of his customers, overseeing the implementation of systems, and building a referral base.
Bryan’s experience made him an ideal candidate to lead DealerBuilt’s ongoing efforts to improve the DMS experience for the Dealer community. During Bryan’s tenure, DealerBuilt is experiencing significant sales growth measured with his commitment to the customer.
Mr. Tracey has a BS in Business Administration from The College of New Jersey School of Business.
EVP Product Strategy
Frank Lucas has over 35 years of automotive retail experience. As our EVP of Product Strategy, Frank brings a deep understanding how to build solutions that invariably improve the lives of those that use DealerBuilt’s products.
Prior to forming DealerBuilt with John and Mike, Frank had a diverse career including managing the business operations of Galpin Motors, the largest volume Ford dealership in the world.
Previous to Galpin, Frank was the President of a large group of dealerships in Southern California. He served as CIO for Group 1’s Western Region. In addition, he created one of the first automotive management companies that brought consolidation and control over similar functions that today’s public consolidators employ.
Mr. Lucas brings a keen intellect of the automotive retail market, an ability to develop marketing strategies geared towards the automotive retailer, and tremendous passion for the industry.
Senior Director of Software Development
Lawrence Smith exudes passion for creating high caliber software. He joined DealerBuilt with more than 25 years of extensive experience in software development and product strategy. His in-depth understanding of technology, developing and deploying complex solutions, along with his unique ability of rallying a team to achieve a common goal qualifies him for this critical role within our organization.
Prior to joining the Company, he worked with GlaxoSmithKline defining and implementing the complete Technology Strategy for North American Medical Affairs. Preceding that, Lawrence spent over a decade developing commercial software solutions for the financial services industry.
In his current role, Mr. Smith manages our team of software engineers that are responsible for making the Company’s technical vision come to life. While leading our successful development team, he also partners with Product Management, Support, and Quality Assurance to maintain and create new innovations in on-premises, cloud and mobile solutions for DealerBuilt.
